How to stop being afraid of exams?

If you're expecting the following to be a "standard list of recommendations" that deal with inner calm and serenity on the eve of an exam, you're going to be slightly disappointed. There is none of that in this article. Why write a hundred times each about what every kid in kindergarten knows. "Put a nickel in your shoe," "put your textbooks under your pillow on the eve of exams" - whatever people come up with to calm down on the eve of a session or credits.

The most surprising is that sometimes such ways really work, but the problem is not in the magic power of student omens and customs, but in programming yourself through these customs that they certainly help to pass the exams.

But it is not omens and customs that help. First of all, you help yourself. Those people who have weak willpower and easily "shaken" character, simply have to resort to external sources of additional self-confidence. But this is not the way out. Such manipulations (walking around with a nickel in your shoe and sleeping on your textbooks) are required all the time for the final result to be there. It just was.

However, if you forget at least once to "sleep on your textbooks" (or perform another ritual before exams), you will wake up in the morning with a certain (and quite large) degree of excitement. You forgot to do the thing that always brought you success and good luck on the exam! Oh, crap! That's it, you're definitely not going to pass now.

And as practice shows, such people who are sure that their final positive result (i.e. passing exams) was ensured by "mysterious student rituals", as a rule, fail exams and they have to spend some more time in order to close the session. Who wants to retake everything several times? Of course, everyone wants to pass the exam and quickly forget everything they learned to pass it. Such is the philosophy of students, what can you do :)

How can a student not be afraid of exams?

There is a logical question: is it possible to somehow make it so that you do not depend on external "helpers" in the form of rituals, customs? The answer: you can, and even should. Look. If you depend on someone from outside, then all your actions are somehow tied to that external factor.

As soon as you lose contact with your "helper" (you forget to put a nickel in your shoe), your sense of confidence is gone right away. It's the same as a student's financial dependence on his parents' allotted money. No money, no comfort.

So, what, after all, do you need to do in order not to depend on anyone, and stop being afraid of exams on a regular basis? There are not a lot of options here. If you don't want to depend on someone or something from the outside, develop your confidence within yourself!

Generate confidence in your abilities, get used to not being afraid of anything, and then no exam will be a hindrance to you.

The question arises: how can you do this? Today there are many ways to improve your self-esteem and develop an "iron" confidence in yourself. We have already written about this in our other articles.

Self-confidence is the cornerstone of any accomplishment. You can have poor knowledge of the subject, you can give too little time to prepare for the exam, you can even rarely attend classes at your university (which we, of course, do not advise to do, because knowledge is still useful to you), but you just need to develop in yourself an ironclad confidence in your abilities!
